NOAA CREST SUMMER CAMP at UPRM
Students from across Puerto Rico attended the NOAA CREST Summer Camp this week on the UPRM Campus. This afternoon, they attended a workshop by Dr. Eric Harmsen, which focused on the use of GOES-PRWEB for scheduling irrigation in Puerto Rico. Irrigation scheduling is important for water conservation and for achieving optimal crop yields. The presentation is provided below:
An Agricultural Application of GOES-PRWEB
In this presentation a simple, web-based method for scheduling irrigation is presented. The presentation was given at the 8th Annual NOAA CREST Symposium, The City College of City University of New York, NY, June 5-6, 2013.

GOES-PRWEB results questionable until NEXRAD is back online
I received an email from Ernesto Rodriguez of the National Weather Service in San Juan this morning, regarding the rainfall data from NOAA’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS). GOES-PRWEB uses the AHPS, so until NEXRAD is back online, the GOES-PRWEB results will be questionable.

NASA Study Projects Warming-Driven Changes in Global Rainfall
A NASA-led modeling study provides new evidence that global warming may increase the risk for extreme rainfall and drought.
Good News!! GOES-13 is back online. Solar Radiation Data is Available For Downloading
Good News!! GOES-13 is back online. Solar Radiation Can be downloaded by clicking HERE
The GOES-13 satellite was offline from September 25 through October 19, 2012. During this time, solar radiation data for PR and the northern Caribbean Region were not available. However, the water and energy balance algorithm (GOES-PRWEB) continued to function with estimated solar radiation data. GOES-PRWEB results for solar radiation and 24 other hydro-climate variables are available at
